Driver Uses New Healthy Living Initiative To Show Love For Our Nation’s Military
When truck driver Glen Merrill realized he needed to do something for his health, he didn’t just want to do it for himself, so he found a way to combine his new healthy living initiative on a subject close to his heart: the service of our country, men and women.
Just four months ago, Glen began lifting weights for the sake of his health. He had recently weighed nearly 300 pounds and wanted to make a serious change. When he started he was only bench pushing around 100 pounds, but he quickly gained strength – now he weighs over 550 pounds, squats 725 pounds, and lifts over 600 pounds.
Soon Glen decided to put his newfound health and strength into raising awareness among our nation’s police and military by putting on a show and swapping his lift weights to pull semi-trailers.
Most recently, Glen pulled the very truck he drives, weighing 79,950 pounds. His current record is a 107,000 pound truck pull, and he hopes to break that record soon by pulling an oversized load of 150,000 pounds next year! In fact, this truck pull was just a practice for a pull ahead in November 2021 which he cannot yet release details.
In the video, Glen pulls his truck while his security guard, Mark Laflam, makes sure the rope stays clear of Glen and communicates with the driver behind the wheel if anything happens to Glen during the pull.
“I have done all I can to support the men and women in law enforcement and who serve our country,” Glen said of his antics.
“My objective is to fire a mobile command unit or a tactical unit. “
Glen also says he hopes to complete a truck pull in all of the lower 48 states.
“I will continue to do this to educate charities and those who need help who cannot help themselves,” he said.
Glen is officially sponsored by Steel Fit USA and Nike, as well as a very small sponsorship from Under Armor.
