Several countries in the region, including Iran, already viewed Daesh as a threat to national security. This prompted the Iranian authorities to ask General Soleimani to play a military advisory role to help those countries eradicate the terrorist group.
With the liberation of Abu Kamal – a Syrian town close to the border with Iraq which was the last stronghold held by Daesh, the fall of the flag of the terrorist group and the hoisting of the flag of Syria – General Soleimani announced the end of the reign of Daesh. In a letter sent to the leader in November 2017, the revered commander described the brains behind the creation of the terrorist group.
