Green Bay women’s basketball has two more games canceled

BAIE VERTE – The University of Wisconsin at Green Bay-The Milwaukee Women’s Home and Home Basketball Series scheduled for Jan. 21-23 has been canceled due to Milwaukee’s program COVID health and safety protocols.

This is the seventh game the Phoenix have canceled or postponed this season due to COVID.

Horizon League policy, endorsed by multiple member groups and approved by the Horizon League Board, states that contests canceled due to COVID are forfeited unless deemed a no-contest by the Commissioner. .

League policy allows the commissioner to treat a cancellation as uncontested when the institution involved can demonstrate that extraordinary circumstances led to the cancellation.

Given the increase in the number of positive cases due to the Omicron variant, the board agreed that a high volume of breakthrough cases among those vaccinated is considered extraordinary.

Milwaukee has sought to treat missed competitions as no competition.

Pending a review, the league will decide whether these games will be considered forfeit or no contest at a later date.

If the games are ruled no contest, Green Bay and Milwaukee could explore future dates for the makeup.

In the meantime, the Phoenix are exploring options to face a different opponent tonight, January 21.

If Green Bay plays at the Kress Center, fans with tickets to the Milwaukee game will receive free admission.

If the Phoenix are unable to find another opponent and fail to find a new date against Milwaukee, fans who purchased tickets to a game may be refunded.

Season ticket holders have the option of exchanging their tickets for a future regular season game or can be refunded upon request.

Fans who requested a refund for any previous cancellation will automatically be added to the refund list for that cancellation as well.

Contact the Phoenix Box Office at 920-465-2625 or email [email protected] to request the refund.

Ticket holders who do not request an exchange or refund for this game will have the value of their tickets go to supporting Phoenix Athletics.
